Kristinas eyes widen as she looks over at Skye, trying to process what the other woman has just said.
"Are you sure?" she asks doubtfully. Skye squeezes her eyes shut, picturing every last detail of the scene.
"Yes," she says softly. "I remember seeing that one way sign very clearly. I took special notice of it because I thought it was strange that a busy street like that would be one way only. It didnt make any sense to me. I am absolutely positive."
"Ok," Alexis reasons sensibly. "But we still dont know for sure that the truck driver was deliberately trying to hit you and Jax. Like you said, he could have been drunk. Or maybe he just didnt realize that it was a one way street. There are a lot of careless drivers out there, Skye," Alexis says, trying to calm Skye down. Skye nods slowly, but she cant ignore the sinking feeling in her chest.
"Take a couple deep breaths," Kristina advises helpfully. "Itll help you ground yourself." Alexis cant help but laugh at the look on Skyes face.
"Shes like this all the time," Alexis offers with a little smile. Skye just raises her eyebrows and turns her head to the side. Running a hand through her hair, she peers out the window towards the parking lot. The clear skies from before had clouded up and a light drizzle was falling. Staring out the window, Skye tries to think of who could possibly have a motive to kill her or Jax. There really wasnt anyone she could think of. Sure, there was Sonny, but she really didnt think he would actually kill them. Not now that Courtney was with AJ, anyway, because that would hurt Courtney and Skye knew he wouldnt do that. Seeing the worry in Skyes eyes, Alexis reaches over and gives her a light hug.
"Itll be ok, Skye," she says. "Everything will be ok." Skye smiles gratefully at Alexis, realizing just how good of a person she truly was.
"Thanks, Alexis," she answers. "I only hope youre right."
"I could always ask Sonny to give you a bodyguard," Alexis jokes. Skye smiles ruefully.
"Thats ok, Alexis, I think Ill pass," she replies. Alexis cant help but smile, but the smile quickly disappears as she considers the situation. She knew Skye had a tendency to exaggerate things, but she just had this feeling that this was not the case this time.
"Excuse me? Ms. Quartermaine?" the doctor says, interrupting Skye from her dream world. "You can go in and see Mr. Jacks now." Skye leaps up from her seat and follows the doctor down the hall. Coming to a stop before the door, Skye peers in tentatively.
"Its ok, Skye, you can come in," Jax says quietly, smiling at her from the bed. "Its going to be alright." A few tears escape Skyes eyes as she walks into the room and sits delicately on the edge of the bed. Jax cant help but laugh. "Skye, you dont have to sit like that. Im not going to crumble into little pieces and break just because youre sitting on the bed." Skye smiles softly, amazed at how upbeat Jax can be. Leaning down, Skye gives him a gentle hug.
"The doctor says youre going to be just fine," she says, trying to keep the fear from her voice. Jax nods.
"Everything happens for a reason, Skye, I firmly believe that. So theres a reason that this happened." Skye just nods, thinking about what that reason could be. Shaking her head lightly, Skye smiles, not wanting Jax to know what was worrying her.
"Just look at us," she says. "Two days ago I was in the hospital, and now you are. Were falling apart," she says jokingly. Jax stops laughing and looks up at Skye seriously.
"No," he says, almost forcefully. "Were not falling apart. We have each other to hold onto now Skye, and thats enough." Touched at his words, Skye feels her eyes tear up as she stares down at the only man she has ever really, truly loved. From the moment she had seen him, she had known there was something different about him. And she had known for several months now that she loved him. But it wasnt until this very moment that she knew she was IN love with him. And for Skye that was something very different, something very new, that she had never experienced before.
"Skye? Is everything ok?" Jax asks, noticing the look on her face.
"Hmmm?" Skye asks, jolting herself back to reality. "Yes, everything is fine," she lies, unable to put the conflicting emotions of her new realization and the accident out of her mind.
"No its not," Jax says, reading her mind. "I know you too well to believe that Skye. Please tell me what youre thinking about"

Meanwhile, down the hall, Alexis and Kristina are still sitting in the waiting room, waiting for Skye to come back so they can go visit Jax.
"Do you think Skye could be right?" Kristina asks Alexis nervously. "Do you think someone really is trying to kill her or Jax?"
"I dont know, Kristina. It seems a bit far-fetched, but I just dont know. And Ie learned that its better to be safe than sorry in situations like these. I know Skye and Jax would both probably have a fit if they knew, but I think maybe I should ask Sonny to put a couple bodyguards on them." Kristina cant help but roll her eyes at Alexis mention of Sonny.
"Youre right, Alexis," she says. "They WOULD have a fit. And what in the world makes you think Sonny would agree? He cant stand either one of them!"
"Hmm, thats true," Alexis says. "But Im his friend and if I asked him, he might agree."
"Alexis, Jax has enough money to hire fifty bodyguards. Why dont we let him handle it?"
"Because I could tell from the look on Skyes face that she isnt going to tell him. I can tell that she really cares about him and she doesnt want to worry him."
"But if they are in danger that doesnt make sense," Kristina argues.
"There are a lot of things in this world that dont make sense, Kristina," Alexis replies sadly, staring out the window.

Skye averts her eyes from Jaxs steady gaze. She knows that he DOES know her all too well and can read her emotions very clearly.
"Nothing is the matter," she insists.
"I dont believe you," Jax says. "I can tell from the look on your face." Skye sighs, considering her options. On one hand, if she told Jax, he could be more alert and aware of what was going on. However, on the other hand, she didnt want to worry him, not now, not after the accident.
"Look, its nothing I cant take care of," she insists.
"Ok, now youre scaring me," Jax says. "Come on, Skye, you know by now that you can trust me." Skye sighs deeply, her head pounding.
"I know that, Jax, honest I do. I trust you more than I have ever trusted anyone in my whole life. And you scared me terribly tonight. The thought of having to live the rest of my life without you in it was too much to even consider." Jaxs face softens at Skyes words. Wordlessly, he holds out his arms and she lays down next to him on the bed. Enveloping her in his arms, Jax just holds her tight, never wanting to forget the feeling. Brushing away a strand of her hair from her eyes, he gently kisses her forehead, realizing that she makes live worth living for him. He ponders whether to tell her this or not, but decided against it for the time being. He doesnt want her to think hes only saying this to get her to tell him the truth. For a few moments the two just lie there. Jax closes his eyes, breathing in the deep smell of Skyes perfume. Suddenly his eyes fly open.
"I know whats bothering you," he says to Skye.
