Skye sits at the small table in the casino, looking at everything around her. She quickly glances down at her watch, realizing Jax has been gone for almost half an hour. She smiles, wondering what he is doing. As she is watching the other couples dance, she feels a light tap on her shoulder. Swinging her head around, she finds herself staring up into Jaxs blue eyes.
"Where have you been?" she demanded. His eyes gleam in the bright lights of the casino. He doesnt say a word, simply holding out his hand to her. She takes it and allows him to pull her up from her seat and through the casino. He leads her towards the back of the casino, where it is less crowded. When they reach a door, he stops.
"Wait here," he instructs her, his eyes twinkling with excitement. She giggles and agrees. Jax walks through the door and leaves her standing to wonder what exactly he is doing. When he returns he is carrying a bouquet of flowers; lilacs surrounded by babies breath. He gently removes a swig of the baby breath and pins it in Skyes hair, handing her the rest of the bouquet. She simply stares at him, too happy to speak.
"Come on," he says, taking her hand again and leading her through the door. As soon as Skye steps through the door she stops still in amazement. Blinking several times to convince herself it isnt a dream, she turns her head slightly to look at Jax. He smiles at the look on her face. They are at the very back of the casino, on a small porch that opens out above the Atlantic Ocean. It has been decorated with thousands of white twinkling lights and flowers. At the center of the deck, is a small table, draped in a soft creme tablecloth. In the center of the table sits a vase of the same flowers Jax had given Skye.
Tears come to Skyes eyes as she looks out over the gorgeous scene in front of her. She cant believe how far Jax has gone just to make her happy. It seems almost unreal. Jax notices the tears and gently wipes them away.
"I, I dont know what to say Jax," she sputters. "Nobody has ever done anything like this for me before. Im speechless." Jaxs heart fills with pride at the fact that he was able to make her so happy. Pulling her close, he gives her a quick hug. Turning around to look into his eyes, Skyes tears come again. She leans her head against his shoulder, completely absorbing everything that is happening. The light ocean breeze blows, sending a chill through the air. Wrapping his arms tighter around Skye, Jax leads her over to the guardrail surrounding the deck. They stare out at the ocean, neither saying a word, just happy to be in each others arms.
Jax finally pulls away, walking to the center of the deck. He motions for Skye to follow him, which she does. Out of nowhere comes a violin player.
"May I have this dance?" Jax asks. Skye grins.
"Theres nothing else I would rather do," she replies, her voice thick with emotion. Leaning her head on his shoulder, she sighs with content. " I dont think this day could possibly get any better." she murmurs softly. The sparkle returns to Jaxs eyes.
"Wanna bet?" he asks.
