"Come on, just a little hint," Skye asks, as she and Jax walk hand-in-hand along the boardwalk. The late morning sun beats down on them. He pauses, as if considering her request. Then he simply shakes his head no. She hits him playfully on the arm.
"Boy, you really ARE impatient," he says, noting the way her red hair shines in the sun.
"Yes, I am," she agrees. "Sooooooo, where are we going?"
"If I told you then it wouldnt be a surprise," Jax says, grinning. Her eyes twinkle and she gives his hand a little squeeze. Just hearing her gentle laugh in the breeze is enough to fill Jaxs heart with love. They walk slowly along the boardwalk until they reach a small boathouse on the beach. Jax leads Skye over to it and around the side. Her eyes widen as she sees the waiting sailboat. Its multicolored sails are flapping in the breeze and a picnic basket is sitting inside. She glances towards Jax, unable to stop the smile from spreading across her face. They drag the boat towards the ocean with the aid of Jaxs friend Mike. Climbing in, the two cheerfully wave goodbye to Mike and set sail.
"This is incredible, Jax," Skye says once the boat has floated out to sea. "I never would have imagined this is what you had planned. Its amazing." For awhile, the two sit in silence, deep in thought. Then, suddenly, Jax reaches over and pulls Skye close. She looks up at him, smiling.
"Sorry," he apologized. "Its been too long since you were in my arms." She snuggles in closer.
"I agree," she says, her whole body warm from his touch. She leans her head back against his shoulders and breathes in the smell of salt water, one of her favorite smells in the world. The smell of Jaxs cologne slowly overtakes the smell of the ocean air as he brings her closer to him. She reaches up, lightly running her index finger along his neck. The feel of his skin sends chills shooting through her body. She realizes then how completely happy she is, all because of Jax. She slowly winds her arms around his neck, pulling him even closer to her. Neither say a word; they both know how the other feels.
Skye fights the urge to scream out with delight as Jax lowers his face to kiss her. She kisses him back, all the love in her body seeping out of her. When they finally break away, Jax indicates the picnic basket at his feet.
"Ready for lunch?" he asks her. She grins mysteriously.
"I thought we just HAD lunch," she says. He chuckles and opens the basket. As he spreads the food out, a light wind ripples through the air. He watches Skye as she eats, unable to believe how gorgeous she is. After hours on the ocean, Jax turns the boat and they head towards shore.
"If you think THIS was fun, just wait until tonight," he tells her, getting the sparkle in his eyes again. She just shakes her head and kisses him lightly, no longer asking what he means. As they head for shore, each decides they couldnt be happier if they tried.
