The sun slowly fades into the distance and is replaced by twinkling stars. Jax and Skye still remain on the bench, his arms around her, staring off into the distance, quiet and content. The air grows chilly and Skye glances at her watch. Her eyes widen when she realizes how late it is. Jax looks over at her and smiles.
"This is the best day Ive had in a really long time" he says.
"Me too," she agrees. "In fact, its one of the only completely carefree days Ive ever had. I dont want it to end." He sits up and looks at her, eyes twinkling. "What?" she demands. He stands up and stretches his hand out to her.
"Come with me. Dont say anything, just come with me." She takes his hand and allows him to lead her to the front of the house where his car is parked. She looks at him questioningly as he opens the door for her.
"Maybe I should tell Alan where were going," she suggests. He shrugs.
"If you want to," he says. She considers, but decides against it.
"I can always call him later," she says. She slides into the car, shutting the door behind her. Jax slides into the drivers seat and carefully pulls out of the driveway. For awhile, they ride in silence, each deep in thought about the other. Before long, Skye realizes they are at the airport. She looks over at him, surprised. He just grins.
"Come on," he says, shutting the car and getting out. He walks around and pulls her out of the car. Warmth radiates through her body at the feel of her hand in his. She laughs as he hurries her across the lot to his waiting jet, thinking of the last time they were in the plane, on their way to Lousiana. He pulls her up into the plane and she sits down in the seat next to him, fastening her seat belt.
"Where are we going," she asks, curiosity FINALLY getting the better of her. She knows he isnt going to tell her, but she HAS to ask. He just laughs softly and starts the plane. She watches him, happy and amused. As the plane takes off, she cant help but laugh.
"What," he asks her. She shakes her head in disbelief.
"A couple hours ago, I was sitting at home, completely miserable. Now look at me. Im on a plane with you, heading to SOMEWHERE. I couldnt be happier." His heart fills with joy when he hears her thoughts.
"I only want to make you happy," he says to her softly. She feels a rush of happiness as she looks over at him.
"I dont know how to thank you," she says. He grins, eyes sparkling.
"Just wait," he says. "The best is yet to come."
